The First Lady’s Erroneous “Drink More Water” Campaign
Recently, First Lady Michelle Obama pitched and launched her newest healthy lifestyle campaign of drinking more water to students at Watertown High School in Watertown, Wisconsin. [1] Her drink more water campaign slogan is “Drink Up.”
Commendable, but not very good advice! Why? The reasons are legion, especially since most municipal water supplies are ‘supplemented’ with sodium fluoride [2], the very chemical weapon that supposedly was discharged in Syria and prompted a Middle East crisis with President Obama threatening to punish Syrian president Bashar al-Assad for chemically poisoning his people.
Investigative journalist Mike Adams of NaturalNews reported on September 3rd that
The Independent [a UK newspaper published an article] entitled Revealed: Government let British company export nerve gas chemicals to Syria.
So, what were those nerve gas chemicals? Sodium fluoride and potassium fluoride! Sodium fluoride [NaF] is the very chemical used in the USA to ‘supplement’ municipal water systems to ‘prevent’ tooth decay. Mike Adams published an exposé of a prime supplier of NaF, China, wherein the Chinese firm exporting NaF says this about its product:
An insecticide, a protective coating for metals, a pickle for steels and other metals, a flux for soldering and welding, as well as a flux and pacifier for ceramic, glass and porcelain enamel. [3]
Sodium fluoride has other industrial uses consumers may not know about and which NaturalNews lists, as per a Chinese export company:

Consumers need to realize that those inexpensive ‘porcelain-coated’ cook pots, even though they may have pretty colors and designs, are made with NaF that may leach via chemical interaction when cooking foods, especially acid-base food. As you can see by the above graphic, NaF has many uses, including being an agricultural pesticide. Pesticides are designed to kill! Are there any dots to be connected regarding fluoride?
Fluoride also is a key component in many cancer chemotherapy drugs. Fluoride also is a component in many pharmaceuticals. See the Fluoride Toxicity Research Collaborative’s “Index of Fluorinated Pharmaceuticals.” An extremely cautionary statement appears on FLRC’s website, which says:
It is unclear to what extent, if any, the fluorinated drugs listed here may increase the body burden of inorganic fluoride. This uncertainty is amplified by the lack of available data from the pharmaceutical companies. [CJF emphasis added] ….
FTRC’s concern is based on recent research showing that some fluorinated drugs (e.g., many anesthetics) may in fact increase the body’s burden of fluoride. It is imperative, therefore, that additional research be conducted to determine how many other organofluorine drugs, and which ones, result in increased inorganic fluoride exposure. [CJF emphasis added]
Why, then, is the pharmaceutical industry remiss in supplying that data; and why is the CDC/FDA extremely lax in not requiring it? Fluoride is a protoplasmic poison! [4,5]
Personally, this writer cannot thank FTRC enough for listing the Symptoms of Fluoride Poisoning, which include:
…seemingly harmless symptoms, such as white spots in teeth (dental fluorosis), or chronic problems, such as arthritic joints, or more serious problems, including respiratory disease or cancer, or a complex of problems, whether acute or chronic.
And now, Mrs. Obama is encouraging everyone, and children in particular, to drink more poison every day! If anything, she should research the toxicity and carcinogenic effects of fluoride and initiate a campaign to remove fluoride from all municipal water systems in the USA. Now, that would be CHANGE!
If Mrs. Obama were to do fluoride research, she would find that none other than Harvard reported a study about fluoride negatively affecting the brain and one’s IQ. Mrs. Obama apparently chose the wrong venue—a high school—to launch her drink more water campaign, because the study that Harvard cites says,
They then analyzed possible associations with IQ measures in more than 8,000 children of school age; all but one study suggested that high fluoride content in water may negatively affect cognitive development.
The average loss in IQ was reported as a standardized weighted mean difference of 0.45, which would be approximately equivalent to seven IQ points for commonly used IQ scores with a standard deviation of 15.* Some studies suggested that even slightly increased fluoride exposure could be toxic to the brain.
To learn more about IQ measurements by HSPH’s Anna L. Choi and Philippe Grandjean in response to a letter to the journal published in the March 2013 (Vol. 121, No. 3) Environmental Health Perspectives.
Furthermore, according to Wikipedia,
Many European countries have rejected water fluoridation in general. This includes: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Scotland, Iceland, and Italy. [6]
Regarding, the United States water fluoridation statistics, Wikipedia says this:
As of May 2000, 42 of the 50 largest U.S. cities had water fluoridation. In 2010, 66% of all U.S. residents and 74% of U.S. residents with access to community water systems receive fluoridated water. In 2010, a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study determined that “40.7% of adolescents aged 12–15 had dental fluorosis [in 1999– 2004]”. [CJF: a fluoride poisoning symptom per FTRC] In response, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services together with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency proposing to reduce the recommended level of fluoride in drinking water to the lowest end of the current range, 0.7 milligrams per liter of water (mg/L), from the previous recommended maximum of 1.2 mg/L. This could effectively terminate municipal water fluoridation in areas where fluoride levels from mineral deposits and industrial pollution exceed the new recommendation. [7] [CJF emphasis added]
Mrs. Obama’s well-intentioned drink-more-water campaign is indicative of the proverbial “glass half full,” i.e., part correct and part flat-out wrong information. Yes, drink more water; but no, don’t drink fluoridated water!
Mrs. Obama, can you please edit or amend your campaign to drink more non-fluoridated water so that U.S. children won’t be poisoned more than they are by all the toxins in food, air, vaccines, and water?
