By Heather Callaghan, Editor
“Along with medicine I also prescribe them Charlie Chaplin DVDs so they can watch and be happy.”
Have you heard of people who recover from illness with the help of laughter? Maybe you read Anatomy of an Illness and wondered if you could laugh yourself well, too.
It turns out that Charlie Chaplin is kind of a big thing in India. One doctor – who has watched Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush over 200 times and still falls down laughing – has formed a celebration of the silent movie actor in order to foster humor in his town of Adipur, India.

Dr. Ashok Sukhumal Aswani is an Ayurvedic doctor who is passionate about providing happiness and comfort to his patients through humorous movies – he literally prescribe comedic DVDs – how cool is that! He has formed a yearly parade with his Charlie Circle Foundation that is a full blown celebration and permission to just have fun and be silly.
For anyone who watches this short video of Dr. Ashok’s love of humor (and Charlie Chaplin) – just know, you can use any kind of humor in your life to release emotional tension we all build up on a regular basis.
Charlie Chaplin really isn’t my thing, but if there were a yearly celebration of The Office, I’m sure I’d make the drive to Scranton, Pennsylvania to be there!
Enjoy this surreal video! Tell us below what type of humor makes you feel better.
