Pop Star “Pink” Pledges $500,000 Donation To Fight Australian Fires
By John Vibes
On Saturday, the pop star Pink pledged to donate $500,000 towards the fire fighting organizations that are working to put out the wildfires currently spreading across Australia.
In an Instagram post announcing her donation, the singer, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore, wrote, “I am totally devastated watching what is happening in Australia right now with the horrific bushfires. I am pledging a donation of $500,000 directly to the local fire services that are battling so hard on the frontlines. My heart goes out to our friends and family in Oz.”
Pink is not currently touring or making music so she can focus on her family, but she has spoken up on social issues from time to time. In November of 2019, when she was presented with the People’s Champion of 2019 award at the E! People’s Choice Awards gave a passionate speech that discussed the importance of doing something positive to make a change in the world.

“I don’t care about your politics. I care about your kids. I care about decency and humanity and kindness. Kindness today is an act of rebellion. There are people that don’t have what you have. Help them get it. There is a planet that needs help. It feels good to help. It feels powerful to help. Stop fighting each other and help each other. Get together with your friends and change the fucking world,” she said.
Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban also said that they would donate $500,000 to volunteer firefighters who are fighting the blazes in Australia. Tara Moss, Selena Gomez, and a few other celebrities have made promises to donate unspecified amounts to the efforts.
The extraordinary generosity of Australians during this devastating bushfire crisis continues. Nicole Kidman has just told me that she and Keith Urban are donating $500,000 to volunteer firefighters around the country. @10NewsFirst @KeithUrban #NicoleKidman pic.twitter.com/HtEWFX14w3

Hopefully, these donations will also raise awareness about the issue and encourage other people to donate to the cause, especially if they have the means to do so.
