Cat Walked Back 12 Miles to Family Who Rejected Him and His Face Shows It
By Melinda Cafferty, Natural Blaze
Hearts are breaking everywhere over Toby the Cat. The “human-forsaken” orange feline that went on a 12-mile journey to the doorstep of the people who abandoned him.
The 7-year-old cat, at least middle-aged in human years, was given away by his original family who reportedly no longer wanted him. But Toby wasn’t having his new home, and trudged on back to his human family of origin, somehow showing up on their doorstep.
According to the SPCA of Wake County in North Carolina, the family still didn’t want him and “tried to have him put down” at an animal shelter.
At this point we must stop and ask, Who is the more sentient being?
We know there could be extenuating circumstances, but it is unfathomable to us that the family wouldn’t see his inexplicable return as a modern miracle. A Herculean feat!

“When he arrived, he was met with heartbreak,” the SPCA wrote in a Facebook post. “The family he thought had loved him took him to a shelter and asked staff to euthanize him.”
At the very least, the family could have tried …. not having him rubbed out!
Seriously, where is their sense of wonderment?
So, after rescuing him, the SPCA sought help.
Fortunately, Toby has finally found a forever-home after the ones he felt closest to coldly rejected him.
Whereas Toby’s original family appears to be unmoved by his loving tenacity, someone else decided there was room in her heart for him.
Last week, they reported that Toby found a new home:
Good news! Remember Toby, the cat who walked 12 miles back to his family, only to be taken to a shelter to be euthanized? (Don’t worry! He was transferred to the SPCA instead!)
Well, Toby has been adopted! He has three new siblings (one feline and two human) and a cat-savvy mom to show him what a loving family is really like.

Toby even has an Instagram page.
He is a much happier kitty, now.
I wish I knew what it was like for the orange tabby to walk all the way back home and what he met along the way. I think it would make a much better movie than that computer animated piece of garbage called Garfield.
