Even when you believe your pantry or kitchen is seemingly spotless, these little buggers can pop up out of nowhere, buzzing around your face, or worse… flying into your nose  – there might not be a less pleasant, jarring feeling.

Thankfully, there is an amazing trick that you only need one basic ingredient for.

He does mention soap not being necessary in the video however in my experience a couple drops of dish soap is needed if you go without plastic wrap. Using both makes the trap more effective in theory. The plastic wrap manages to physically trap the flies and gnats within until they fall in from exhaustion, whereas soap breaks the surface tension of the liquid when they land on it, forcing them to fall in and drown as well.

So if you don’t stock the stuff, or are all out of plastic wrap, just use a couple drops of dish soap lightly mixed into the vinegar and you’ll still have amazing results. If you are using the plastic wrap, the addition of soap isn’t necessary but it can’t hurt. If anything it will make the trap more effective.
