‘Kill switch’ for genetically-modified insects, bacteria developed at MIT

Genetic engineers have been developing a so-called ‘kill switch’ for genetically-modified organisms, such as insects or bacteria, that could be a threat to humans if they are released outside of a laboratory setting.

Chris Voigt, associate professor of Biological Engineering at MIT, speaks with Ameera David about the latest research that could protect people from more active forms of GMOs.
