Editor’s note: this problem with school lunch quality and shamefully wasting food – using hunger to punish children and humiliate them for food politics – is repulsively rampant across the U.S. Open the lines of communication with your school and let them know how unacceptable hunger and degradation are in 2015, and that children don’t deserve punishment for parents’ or students’ occasional slips. Software and a kind word from personnel are an easy solution – no need to traumatize or use humiliating power plays.
