World’s Best Fruit Fly Trap Ever
Autumn is a wonderful time for farmers’ markets, orchard fruits, crisp air and…fruit flies!
You walk in the kitchen, think you might see something moving, adjust your eyes to focus until one of them starts getting considerably larger – it’s about to go right into your eyeball! Just when you think you’ve gotten rid of every trace of their food, there they are, either swarming around or awaiting your fresh goodies.
Jason , who runs a blog called Modern Pioneer has demonstrated what looks to be the world’s best fruit fly trap. Efficient, costs less than a quarter, safe for you and the environment. Best of all – so simple! Only requiring a couple ingredients – anyone can make this simple trap.

Why pay $7.52 for a Fruit Fly Trap that can cost less than 25¢ to make yourself?
Here is my video on how to make your own to get rid of those pesky buggers, especially since they can be attached to apples in bags or you buy locally. The eggs can be on fruit that you buy and bring home from the store.
Chrysanthemums (also known as “mums”), especially the daisy kind, are rumored to help with indoor insects. This could be because they contain an oil that’s volatile to them. It’s called pyrethrum and used in insecticides. You can even make your own spray from pyrethrum powder or snip them, dry, crush and use around the garden or perhaps in a cup on the table.
This is the perfect time of year to get some mums.
