Make Your Own Natural Toothpaste
Most toothpaste contains sugar, fluoride, artificial colors, and other harmful ingredients that are best avoided. They also contain glycerine which form a protective coating on your teeth.
Not so bad, you might think? Think again. The glycerine prevents the beneficial minerals in your saliva from penetrating into your teeth (which are alive by the way) leading to mineral deficiencies.
Instead of using the toxic commercial varieties, why not make your own? It’s simple and quick.

Whenever possible, I try to make my own EVERYTHING as it usually ends up be cheaper in the long run, in addition to a whole lot healthier as I can control the quality of the ingredients.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup aluminum free baking soda
5 drops peppermint essential oil
2 drops cinnamon or clove essential oil
Mix all the ingredients in a jar with a lid. Use as you would toothpaste. Add a small amount to a damp tooth brush and brush your teeth as you normally would.
Peppermint essential oil helps freshen breath, kill bacteria, and clear sinuses. Clove and cinnamon essential oils also kill viruses and bacteria and leave your breath smelling great. Because many essential oils on the market today are loaded with additives and chemicals, I only buy doTERRA essential oils.
In addition, the baking soda restores a natural, slightly alkaline pH balance to the teeth and gums and helps to whiten teeth.
Sounds like a good plan, yea? While it may take a while to get used to the baking soda flavor, you’re mouth will quickly start to feel much fresher and cleaner than before!
Here’s another (albeit a bit more complicated) recipe I like to use below:
