5G/EMF/RF, I Didn’t Hear It Through the Grapevine, I Heard it Through My Brain Tissue Rattling in My Head, 45 Years Ago
The song “Macarena” topped the charts in 1996.
If the song were a car, it would be an antique.
Regulations for cell tower safety, also antiques, date back nearly to the release of that song.
This is insane (and similar to the history of Monsanto and other killer corporations, may one day be recognized as criminal.)
The mainstream media and wireless industry dismiss concerns about “5G,” the next generation of telecom connectivity, which is not for calls and texts, but for the burgeoning Internet of Things (IOT).

In concert with Global Protests Against 5G held worldwide the weekend of Sept. 18, residents of Lenox, MA protested against the planned installation of antennas on a subsidized housing complex.
Wireless infrastructure installation is the next wave of grotesque environmental injustice and destruction, happening now.
Peggy, Amar, and Wayland’s Foresight
Over 100 miles away from Lenox, 22 years ago, in 1999, Peggy Patton and her colleagues worked intently to establish a wireless overlay district in Wayland, Massachusetts, near the dump and away from most occupied homes.
“Natural Blaze” is one of the few media outlets highlighting the citizen side of the telecom/utility safety debacle. The independent news blog has featured the voices of many pioneers working to safeguard communities.
Peggy’s story was featured in Natural Blaze: 5G/EMF/RF Mother’s Day 2021: Voices Of Experience, Wisdom & Insight Part 1
“In 1998, in historic Wayland, MA, the First Parish Church planned to sign a contract with a wireless carrier to install an antenna in the church steeple. Mothers Peggy Patton and Diana Warren were concerned. Diana raised the question – if the church were going to engage in conducting commercial business, the congregation needed to approve it. When the citizens started doing their own research, they learned that there are significant RF health effects. Diana Warren noted, ‘The more research I did, the more concerned I became.’ An MIT/ RF engineer concurred that safety standards are too lenient. They asked the town to approve forming a Wayland Planning Board Wireless Bylaw Subcommittee seeking to amend the town’s zoning bylaws, and eventually took the question of tower and antenna placement to a special town meeting vote. They overwhelmingly won, and defeated the antenna.
Wayland resident Dr. Amar Bose, of Bose Electronics, spoke against having the infrastructure near residences, and about the health risks. The press reported that the video of his testimony was also influencing other communities. ‘Residents also seemed moved by a videotape showing Dr. Amar Bose, professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and founder of audio manufacturer Bose Corporation, testifying in favor of a moratorium on tower construction. “I am now convinced that there is a real danger from electromagnetic radiation,” Bose says on the tape. ‘I do not believe today that anybody with good grounding in science can refute the credibility of some of the research papers I have seen.’”
The Wayland group created yellow yard signs that are now twice as old as Jess Gilardi, whose family has been protesting the illegal installation of a monstrous Verizon tower, nearly on top of their hillside home in Pittsfield. Many area residents reported symptom onset and illness when the tower was activated. Jess’s sister Amelia, 13 years old, has been testifying before her City Council and others, as told in her story to Natural Blaze readers,”5G Earth Day Countdown: Children — Amelia’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Cell Tower Days.”
But the roots of both independent research demonstrating harm, and engaged activism, regarding the risks of wireless technologies, go back much further in history. How did we get to this point?
Telecommunications Safety Science is “His”tory, Disregarding Women, Children, and Nature
Part of the problem is that historical research has literally focused on “his story,” in looking at the effects of radio frequency exposures on military men.
(1971 Military Compilation of Radar Injury, by Zory Glaser, courtesy Magda Havas, LINK)
Currently Exposures Are Increasing For All Populations. Safety Guidelines Have Not Kept Pace.
Likewise, drugs were routinely tested on military men, and then prescribed to women and children. Decades later, recognition that body weight and size were important variables emerged. (In 2016, medical errors were reported to be the third leading cause of U.S deaths.)
The Body Count of Measuring the Head of a Dummy; Testing the Temperature For How Much Longer Unscientific and Unsubstantiated Safety Testing Can Prevail
One area of increasing concern, not only for informed safety advocates, but also for the Court that recently ruled against the FCC for willfully not addressing reports of harm, is safety testing.
The cellphone testing protocol is based entirely on the measurements of the head of a military man.
In its decision, the Court’s ruling against the FCC used the terms arbitrary, capricious, and not evidence-based.
And, it gets worse.
The prevailing “safety” recommendations, theorized in 1996, are not scientific “standards.” They are only guidelines, because they have never actually been tested under appropriate research conditions.
They are based on the theory that military radar operators who became infertile or developed unusual cataracts were injured because they experienced tissue heating. This theory emerged in part because male radar operators noticed that the radar beams would melt the candy bars they carried in their shirt pockets.
Microwave Hearing –Microwaving Brain Electricity, Torture
In 1960, military men also noticed something else – that under certain circumstances, they could “hear” the radar waves.
Only they were not “hearing radar.” What they were actually hearing was the sound of artificial electric fields being generated in the brain itself.
The Cellular Phone Task Force explains:
“In 1960, biologist Allan Frey, then 25, was working at General Electric’s Advanced Electronics Center at Cornell University when he was contacted by a technician whose job was to measure the signals emitted by radar stations. The technician claimed that he could ‘hear’ radar. Frey traveled to the facility where the man worked and stood at the edge of the radar beam. ‘And sure enough, I could hear it, too,’ he said. ‘I could hear the radar going ‘zip, zip, zip’.'”
Frey went on to establish that the effect was real—microwave radiation from radar (and other source) could somehow be heard by human beings. The “hearing,” however, didn’t happen via normal sound waves perceived through the ear. It apparently occurred somewhere in the brain itself, as microwaves interacted with the brain’s cells, which generate tiny electrical fields.
This phenomenon came to be known as the Frey effect, or simply “microwave hearing.” Frey caused rats to become docile by exposing them to radiation at an average power level of only 50 microwatts per square centimeter. At only 0.6 microwatts per square centimeter, he caused isolated frogs’ hearts to stop beating by timing the microwave pulses at a precise point during the heart’s rhythm.
“In a study published in 1975 in the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Frey reported that microwaves could induce ‘leakage’ in the barrier between the circulatory system and the brain. Breaching the blood-brain barrier is a serious matter. It means that bacteria, viruses and toxins from the blood can enter the brain. It means the brain’s environment, which needs to be extremely stable for nerve cells to function properly, can be perturbed in other dangerous ways.”
Tinnitus complaints are rising….but it’s not tinnitus. It’s microwave hearing.
The Headbone is Connected to…the Nervous System, the Digestive System, the Endocrine System, the Universal Energy Field, and the Future of the Planet and All That Lives Here
Technically, microwave hearing is a symptom of an environmental agent penetrating the body’s defenses, and altering brain function.
When the wireless industry tests for cellphone safety, they take the temperature of a dummy head model based on the size of a military head. They lead the public to believe that this means that that cellphones are fine for everyone because they are “tested.”
The reason why so many drugs come with a warning about use by pregnant women is that the drug industry finally, belatedly had to recognize differences in men vs. women, children, and developing fetuses, after a great deal of carnage.
If this concept does not soon extend to our unquestioning and/or forcefully imposed adoption of wireless technologies, what societal burdens and suffering will be created?
We already have a very good idea. (Neurological deaths of American adults (55-74) Unfortunately, we are not listening yet.
And, it even gets worse. Pro-industry regulators decided to characterize the ear as an appendage…despite its proximity to the brain, to make the safety limits even more liberal, in favor of higher allowable exposure levels.
Now, OTARD regulations increase threat to the safety, health property value, and environment, from your next door neighbor. Children’s Health Defense explains,
The Telecom Act of 1996
Thirty years after Alan Frey’s 1960s microwave hearing research, as described by Physicians for Safe Technology, the infamous section 704 of the Telecom Act of 1996 stated,
“No State or local government or instrumentality thereof may regulate the placement, construction, and modification of personal wireless service facilities on the basis of the environmental effects of radio frequency emissions to the extent that such facilities comply with the Commission’s regulations concerning such emissions.”
With the removal of the EPA from the task of setting safe exposure limits for wireless radiofrequency radiation in 1995 and the passage of the expansive dystopian Telecommunications Act a year later there has been deregulation and monopolization of the Industry. Powerful telecomm lobbyists with seemingly limitless financial resources have manipulated the system to their benefit for decades“
The Telecom Act of 1996 is an immoral regulation. Since then, the “oversight” of the industry has gone down the tubes even further, with politicians and other decision makers aligned with the concept that addressing the digital divide is a human rights issue requiring massive infrastructure investment.
Please don’t fall for this bunk.
We could be 50 years ahead in the quest to provide safe and secure telecommunications. Time to change course.
