Electrohypersensitivity and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Recognized by the World Health Organization; Suggests They Be Included in the International Classification of Diseases
Note: The World Health Organization was asked to address the issues stated in the article, and as presented by the Scientific Committee of the Fifth Paris Appeal Congress but has not endorsed them yet. A sincere apology for the confusion is offered by both Catherine J Frompovich and NB.
The World Health Organization (WHO), on September 4th, 2015, issued a one-page press release, regarding “International Scientific Declaration on Electrohypersensitivity and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity” along with a five-page “Statement of International Scientific Declaration on Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity” that, not only is long overdue, but critically important to untold millions of people around the world who suffer from two new, or modern, diseases caused by products and services created, manufactured and dispensed by mega corporations and industries that disregard the science validating what’s known as EMS and MCS.
The Statement was signed by 25 signatories, all prominent international health, medical, research, and political professionals, who encouraged the World Health Organization to recognize electrohypersensitivity (EMS) and multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) as real diseases, plus include them in the International Classification of Diseases.
Incredibly, the signatories had this to say:
According to the present scientific knowledge and taking into account the precautionary principle, we unanimously recommend that true information in the use of chemicals and wireless technologies be made accessible to the public and precautionary regulation measures applying particularly to children and other vulnerable population subgroups be urgently taken as it should be the case regarding chemicals in the application of the European Registration Evaluation Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation.
To fulfill these objectives, we unanimously request that institutional committees designed for evaluating the risks of EMFs and chemicals be constituted by scientists acting in clear science-based independency and so exclude any experts with industry affiliation.

The above-underscored paragraph recognizes, and emphasizes, the importance of excluding “experts with industry affiliation,” an apparent cog-in-updating-the-science-wheel, especially when it comes to microwave technology—a serious cause of EMS.
Microwave wireless technology is used in communication networks, cell phones, Wi-Fi, food-prep ovens, warfare, weather geoengineering, plus ratepayer smart meters for utility companies: electric, natural gas and water. Not surprising though, the microwave industry and all its affiliated industries refuse to recognize non-thermal adverse health effects from EMFs and RFs. There are untold adverse health effects that the American Academy of Environmental Medicine reports on in its “Recommendations Regarding Electromagnetic and Radiofrequency Exposure” here
WHO finally is addressing the problem, and rightfully so. My only concern is that the Precautionary Principle [1] is disregarded because industry experts and lobbyists are permitted to keep promoting outdated science based on 50-to-60 year old radar science, which legislators and the media seem to think is current and up-to-date knowledge. Nothing is further from the scientific facts!
Adverse health effects regarding microwave wireless technology involve two forms: Thermal, which the industry keeps trotting out as safe, and Non-thermal, what corporate interests don’t want anyone to know about.
The jig is up; the cat’s out of the bag regarding microwave wireless technology and multiple chemical sensitivity. The health problems are real, American Medical Association.
