Cannabis Showing High Positive Results for Incurable Ailments
By Paul Fassa
Not surprisingly, a survey study involving 7,525 adult legal medical marijuana patients in California determined that 92% of them claimed improved medical conditions from using cannabis. The CDC final study was based on data from the California Behavioral Risk Surveillance System.
“Our study contradicts commonly held beliefs that medical marijuana is being overused by healthy individuals,” wrote the study authors. “The most common reasons for use include medical conditions for which mainstream treatments may not exist, such as for migraines, or may not be effective, including for chronic pain and cancer.”
Those commonly held beliefs include comments from various politicians, law enforcement and DEA agents who assert medical marijuana as a cover for recreational users and “stoners”. But more of us are realizing that the medical potential of cannabis has exceeded expectations and continues to do so.

Two Dramatic Successes with Cannabis Where It’s Illegal
After surgery and chemotherapy had failed with his bowel cancer twice at Christie Hospital in Manchester, England, David Hibbit was told he had 18 months to live. At the time, Hibbit was enduring chemo for the third time. But his energy was drained from that treatment.
And as a single working father of a five-year-old son, he needed to get on track with something other than chemotherapy. “I felt like the chemo was killing me and I had nothing to lose. I couldn’t accept I was going to die.”
After researching what might work without side effects, he decided on cannabis oil, which is illegal in England even for medical purposes. He dropped chemotherapy and used the cannabis oil exclusively.
“I pay around £50 [around $75 US] for a gram from a bloke I know who makes it,” he said. “That lasts me about a month usually.” Although he conceded it put him out of commission functionally for awhile he added, “but it’s nowhere near as bad as chemotherapy. The pain just seemed to disappear and it seems to have done the job. I just want to make other people aware that there are other options out there.”
In January of 2015, his latest scan showed he was cancer free after only a few months of his self-medicating with cannabis oil. Then he announced wedding plans with his fiancee of six years, nursery nurse Heather Martin, to be a single father no more.
Heather admitted, “I didn’t want him to take the cannabis oil at first because it’s illegal, but I saw the change in him and slowly got used to it.”
Another example occurred in Puerto Rico with a young child, Kalel Santiago. Kalel had a bad health beginning at 10 months of age when he was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that usually invades nervous system cells at early ages or even during embryonic phases.
By age three, Kalel’s cancer cleared after conventional oncology treatments, but he was diagnosed with severe non-verbal autism. Charlotte’s Web, a high CBD, low THC strain of cannabis developed in Colorado for a young girl named Charlotte with severe epileptic seizures would only be available if Kalel’s parents, Abel and Gladys Santiago, could relocate in Colorado with their young son.
Any cannabis product with any amount of THC is illegal in Puerto Rico and several USA states. The flowers or buds of hemp plants contain both THC and CBD compounds, even Charlotte’s Web.
To fill the void of those in need of cannabis for curing where any trace of THC is illegal, various hemp producers use only industrial hemp’s stalks and seeds to produce pure hemp oils high in CBD or cannabidiol completely without THC as a legal option.
It is simply hemp oil and should be allowed anywhere that sells hemp seeds for nutrition or hemp fabrics for clothing.
The Santiagos found a CBD non-THC product online for $40 an ounce provided by Hemp Health of California. According to one source, it amounted to a three-month supply of spraying into Kalel’s mouth twice daily.
In two days, Kalel began speaking his first words at age nine. His progress in school increased with his newly discovered ability to speak and the parents are very grateful to the CBD only product that now had Kalel speaking.
States Prohibiting Cannabis for Healing Harms People
Remember Shona Banda? She had such success curing her terminal Crohn’s Disease after accidentally discovering cannabis oil collecting in the old fashioned vaporizer. Smoking cannabis from that hookah relieved her major symptoms somewhat. But using the cannabis oil that had collected got her well enough in Kansas to leave for Colorado.
Shona became an ardent marijuana activist and even wrote a book, Live Free or Die. She went to Colorado and worked in a cannabis dispensary for awhile, but circumstances forced her back to Kansas where her worst hell broke loose.
Her 11-year-old son was taken from her by the Child Protection Service and Shona was arrested for having cannabis products and paraphernalia in her home that she used to maintain her health. This hell broke loose after Shona’s son openly and politely pointed out to teachers, after a presentation on the evils of marijuana, that his mom uses marijuana as medicine and it works.
Here’s what Ron Paul had to say about Shona’s legal predicament:
