The Electric Slide
As society continues to improve standards of living with technology, we in turn also demand an enhanced lifestyle in terms of access to electricity, heat, and energy.
Energy comes from a number of sources: coal, petroleum, natural gas and unconventional sources like shale and rock formations. But without energy, our daily routines like going to the gym, reading at home, and even necessities like hot water wouldn’t be achievable.

Worldwide energy consumption is predicted to rise 40% by 2040 with growing electricity demands in developing countries. The burning of energy sources like petro and coal account for destructive CO2 emissions which add to create a hole in the ozone layer, exposing us to breathing these dangerous chemicals that can negatively impact your health. Luckily, scientists have drilled into the energy efficient sources of natural gas, which emits 60% less CO2 emissions than coal when used for electricity generation.
Gaining access to more energy efficient sources, as well as sustainable energy innovation will in time enable most countries to have access to electricity within the next 40 years.
Check out this chart on how, why, and where our energy consumption takes place!
