New Zealand Expected to Reintroduce COVID Restrictions
New Zealand is expected to announce a whole host of new COVID restrictions tomorrow, much to the vexation of Kiwis who were just getting back to normal.
While PM Jacinda Ardern has stated she won’t completely lockdown the country, she mentioned increased testing and forced self-isolation, and vaccine-related restrictions (medical apartheid) have been hinted at.
“We know what they are. Isolation if you have COVID — that markedly brings down the infection rates of others. Your household isolating with you is equally important. Mask use and vaccination. Those are three things that will have some of the biggest impact on our numbers,” she said earlier today while holidaying in Fiji for the Pacific Island Forum.
According to government officials, the decision to reimpose new restrictions is due to a sudden rise of cases (roughly 11,000 a day) in the middle of summer, which is miraculous, to say the least.
Currently, the country sits at the “Orange” COVID level, which means that life has mostly returned to normal, though the mask mandate remains.
Now, with the announcement of additional restrictions, again, it’s looking like Kiwis may never be allowed to return to pre-COVID normalcy.
